Déjà vu
May I please see a show of hands of those of you who experience or have experienced this “strange phenomena of the mind”? Clearly, I do—and I have to be honest; it has become much more frequent in my middle age—and it creeps the hell out of me.
The feeling—the intense sensation—of having said or done something before, upon its first experience, is just eerie because how can it be familiar when it’s “new”?
Déjà vu—a serious psychopathological disorder, recollection of a dream, past-life or repressed memory, ESP, a horribly cheesy Dionne Warwick song from the late ‘70s that I love, or simply an indication that you—I—need to step away from the vodka bottle for awhile?
